At the time of this podcast recording, Dr. Shane Hotchkiss served as Superintendent of the Bermudian Springs School District in York Springs, PA. Dr. Hotchkiss is a seasoned educational leader with over 24 years of experience in education administration. His diverse career journey spans multiple roles across different educational settings, from his beginnings as a fourth-grade teacher in New Kent County School District, Virginia, to his current position as Director of Education Innovation & Solutions with GDC.
Dr. Hotchkiss's academic credentials include a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a M.ED. in Education with a Reading Specialist certification from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, a principal certification from Pennsylvania State University, and a Doctorate from Widener University.
His administrative experience includes serving as an elementary assistant principal, elementary principal, and assistant superintendent before taking on the role of superintendent at Bermudian Springs School District. As a committed educational leader, Dr. Hotchkiss has been an active member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators (PASA) since 2011, where he has served on the Professional Development Committee and participated in various leadership initiatives.
His dedication to educational excellence extends to the national level, as evidenced by his completion of the National Superintendent Certification Program and his current role as a Pennsylvania representative on the AASA Governing Board. His exemplary leadership was recognized when he was named a 2010 ASCD Emerging Leader.
In his current role with GDC, Dr. Hotchkiss focuses on leveraging his expertise in transformational leadership and strategic planning to help organizations navigate the evolving landscape of education. His approach combines innovative thinking with practical experience to create sustainable solutions that benefit students, staff, and educational communities.
